Company Profile

Originally from Bowmanville , Fen Laird comes from a well established tradition of carpenters, cabinetmakers and house builders. Notables to mention: his uncle Ernie Laird who was a well known builder in the Bowmanville area as well as his grandfather Walter Radage who managed the woodworking shop at MacLaughlin Lumber in Kingston. Building on this foundation, Fen began his carpentry career working with a framing crew in Oshawa and Peterborough in 1975.Repairs, remodelling and residential extentions built layers of confidence and experience until he completed the requirements of Ontario’s Ministry of Skills Development and became fully licensed in 1985.

As a journeyman, work has taken him to Barrie throughout the 80’s and Kingston in the early ‘90’s, with a full settling down here in the Limestone City since 2000. The name Frontenac Build & Design was established then.

Fen’s commitment, attention to detail and care for his clients have resulted in many repeat customers over the years, who have come to rely on his practical approach, pursuance of excellence, integrity and business ethics.

Commitment to the community has been demonstrated by being an active member of the Kingston Home Builder’s Association as well as a long time correctional volunteer in a number of the areas correctional institutions.
